Deadline to file be on the Primary Ballot in March for a County Office is Monday, December 9, 2019.

County Elected Positions on the ballot in March include:

  • Sheriff (incumbent David McKnight)
  • County Attorney (incumbent Angie Smoak)
  • Tax Assessor/Collector (incumbent Karen Jones)
  • Commissioner, Pct. #1 (incumbent JR Ashley)
  • Commissioner, Pct. #3 (incumbent Glenn Dorough)
  • Constable, Pct #1 (incumbent David Capps)
  • Constable, Pct #2 (incumbent Tashia Wilson)
  • JP, Pct #2 (unexpired term, currently held by appointee Lex Jones)

Filings must be done with either the Democrat Party Chair Rickey Harrington (903-431-8161), or Republican Party Chair Jamey Parsons (254-717-8342). An Appointment of Campaign Treasurer must be filed with the County Clerks’ office. All filings must be completed by by 6 p.m. on December 9, 2019.

The following have filed to run for office in the Republican Party:

  • Jeff Greer – Constable, Pct. 2
  • David Capps – Sheriff
  • Ralph Meisenheimer – Commissioner, Pct. 3
  • Ed Baird – Constable, Pct. 1
  • Alan Biddy – Justice of the Peace, Pct. 2

The Primary Election is Tuesday, March 3, 2020. The General Election is November 3, 2020.

City election filing begin in January.
