Commissioners Court 12-09-19

The Commissioners approved everything on their agenda with the exception of hiring JP Abernathy as the court liaison as construction manager. That item raised a number of questions on social media after the agenda was posted. The Commissioners are re-examing the item and tabled the final decision until a later meeting.

Their agenda included:

  • Consider for approval the 2020 County Holidays.
  • Consider for approval setting the date of the last Commissioners Court meeting in December 2019.
  • Consider for approval hiring JP Abernathy as the court liaison as construction manager.
  • Consider for approval Solution Project Proposal for Marion County’s Elections Security Assessment and authorize County Clerk, Vickie Smith, the decision-making authority for most matters that occur.
  • Consider for approval the reappointment of three members: (Jack Nelson, J.P. Abernathy, and Kevin Thompson) to the Cypress River Airport Board for a two year term (January 2020 – December 2021).
  • Consider for approval the reappointment of two members: (John Nance and Ted Barrow) to the Cypress Valley Navigation Board for a two year term (January2020-December 2021).
  • Consider for approval Interlocal Agreement with City of Jefferson for library services
  • Consider for approval Interlocal Agreement with City of Jefferson covering shared services and responsibilities.
  • Consider for approval all 2020 Non-Departmental Contracts for Services to include:
    • Mims Ambulance Service
    • Mims Volunteer Fire Department
    • Gray Volunteer Fire Department
    • Smithland Volunteer Fire Department
    • South Shore Volunteer Fire Department
    • Jackson Volunteer Fire Department
    • Marion County Child Services
    • Marion-Cass Soil & Water Conservation District
    • East Texas Council on Alcohol & Drugs
    • Community Healthcore
    • Cypress Valley Navigation District
    • Marion County Historical Commission
