Monday’s election filing deadline arrived with 14 Marion County residents seeking a place on the primary election ballot on March 3, 2020.

In the Democratic Party, the following individuals are seeking office:

  • Rickey Harrington for Democrat Party Chair
  • Karen Jones for County Tax Assessor/Collector. She is the incumbent.
  • David Quada for Marion County Sheriff
  • Cory Watson for County Commissioner, Pct. 3
  • Tasha Wilson for Constable, Pct. 2. She is the incumbent.

In the Republican Party, the following individuals are seeking office:

  • JR Ashley for County Commissioner, Pct. 1
  • Ed Baird for Constable, Pct. 1
  • Alan Biddy for Justice of the Peace, Pct. 2
  • David Capps for Marion County Sheriff
  • Jeff Greer for Constable, Pct. 2
  • Ralph Meisenheimer for County Commissioner, Pct. 3
  • Scott Stebbins for Republican Party Chair
  • Angie Smoak for County Attorney. She is the incumbent.
  • Michael Williams for Constable, Pct. 1

As of the filing deadline (7p Monday, December 9, 2020), Ashley, Biddy, Harrington, Jones, Stebbins and Smoak are unopposed candidates for office, in either party, in their respective offices.

Ricky Wisdom initially filed to run for County Commissioner Pct. 3, but his application was rejected as he is not a registered voter in Marion County.

Important dates to remember this election cycle:

  • Primary Election is Tuesday, March 3, 2020.
  • Last Day to Register to Vote is Monday, February 3, 2020. To check your status go to VoteTexas.gov. Registration can be done on this site or by contacting the Marion County Voter Registrar (Karen Jones) or an Volunteer Deputy Registrar (Hugh Lewis or Kimberly Parsons).
  • First Day to apply for a Ballot By Mail (Absentee Ballot) is Wednesday, January 1, 2020. The Last Day is Friday, February 21, 2020.
  • First Day of Early Voting is Tuesday, February 18, 2020
  • Last Day of Early Voting is Friday, February 28, 2020.
