What started as a routine traffic stop ended in a high speed chase.
The Jefferson Police Department and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, along with Texas Department of Public Safety officers were in a high speed chase of a GMC Sierra around midnight Friday, January 10, 2020, after an attempted routine traffic stop.
The chase was terminated near the intersection of Hwy 49 and Hwy 43 due to weather conditions and to preserve life and property, according to a press release issued by the Jefferson PD.
After the chase Marion County Sheriff’s office was notified by Harrison County Sheriff’s Office the vehicle was stolen.
The vehicle and subject were apprehended in Miller County, Arkansas, and taken into custody.
JPD is investigating the offense of evading arrest and detention with a motor vehicle as well as possible traffic violations.
