The 76th and 276th Judicial District Courts in Marion County will only be reviewing and hearing certain types of cases over the next month due to the COVID-19 outbreak in the U.S.
According to a letter issued to Attorneys and Court Staff by Judges Robert Rolston and Angela Saucier, beginning March 17 and going through May 11, the Courts will only hear the following cases:
- Jail Pleas
- Juvenile detention/adjudication hearings
- Writs of Habeas Corpus
- Protective Orders
- Emergency family law cases
The listed cases will also only be heard by special setting. Attorneys are instructed to contact the Court on a case by case basis for scheduling.
The plan does not include CPS Court and Attorney General Court cases as those judges will implement their own plans, according to the letter.
The Court also put a 14-day waiting period into effect for all attorneys and court staff who are traveling on domestic or international flights before they can return to participating in Court matters.
