Marion County Commissioners deliberated for approximately 5 minutes this morning in Executive Session on whom to appoint to fill the unexpired term of Marion County Sheriff David McKnight who resigned effective May 31, 2020.
“I just need more time to think about it,” said Commissioner Joe McKnight.
Commissioners voted to table the appointment to the next regular Commissioners Court meeting which is June 8.
Sheriff McKnight is required by law, and has agreed, to continue to fill the duties of the Sheriff, even after his effective resignation date, until his replacement is appointed.
Commissioner J.R. Ashley was absent from the special called meeting.
