Facebook posts, messages, texts, emails, and phone calls concerned about a protest at 6pm tonight (Saturday) in Jefferson turned out to be rumor.
Rumors ranged from “peaceful demonstration” to “six bus loads of people coming to burn down the town” made their way around town today, gradually growing more extreme as the day progressed.
In the end, at 6p at the Post Office, there were three observers beyond individuals who live adjacent to the area. No one protested, picketed, or rioted in the streets.
Jefferson PD were making the rounds through town just in case, but saw no activity.
