Jefferson City Council will hold a special meeting at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the Jefferson Visitor’s Center to discuss complaints on Police Chief Jason Carroll.
Carroll was the object of numerous complaints during the public comment section of last Tuesday night’s regular Council meeting. The complaints stemmed from a series of FaceBook posts Carroll made which were seen by citizens as being insensitive to the Black Lives Matter protest march held last Saturday. Carroll had deleted the posts from his FaceBook page, but numerous screen shots of the posts continue to circulate.
The public complaints called for his resignation or termination.
Carroll also issued an apology to the community via the media (See Carroll Offers Apology) on Wednesday.
The Herald will be live for the public portions of the meeting. There is both a public portion and Executive Session portion of Monday’s meeting. As this is a personnel matter, Council will discuss the matter in Executive Session unless Carroll requests it all be done in public.
