MCM celebrates first year

The Jefferson Jimplecute celebrates one year of new ownership this week.

This time last year, co-publishers Hugh Lewis and Austin Lewter partnered to form Marion County Media.

In doing so, they acquired the Jimplecute and married it with the online Marion County Herald.

“We’ve come a long way in the past year,” Lewter said. “It has flown by. We are still implementing changes and entertaining new ideas. Our business has grown and that would not be possible without you— our readers. We humbly thank you.”

Owners will have from August 31 to February 28 to renew their marks and brands.

According to Smith, renewal is easy and can be done at the Clerk’s office, 102 W. Austin. The recording fee is $26 for a single brand and $5 for each additional location, per type of animal.
