Two great-granddaughters of George W. Brown and his wife Daisy Welch Brown, Marcia Thomas and Peggy Ann Walker, are pictured beside the new Texas Historical Marker placement done on Friday August 20 by City of Jefferson employees including Alan Whatley. The large, ornate Victorian home was built in 1887-89 and burned in 2013 on Labor Day weekend. The house received a State of Texas historical designation in the 1980s and the marker was removed by the fire chief as the house burned. Credit for replacement of the marker as required by the state goes to the Marion County Historical Commission and  Mayor Rob Baker.
