Offices closed for holiday

Jefferson and Marion County offices will be closed on Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving holidays. The offices will reopen on Monday.

Ladies Altar Society Hold Bake Sale

Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Ladies Altar Society is having a bake sale from 10a.m. – 2 p.m. Saturday,  November 20, at the church. Every purchase of $5 or more puts your name in a drawing for a new microwave donated by Suzanne Wix or Roden Applicance in Marshall.

SouthSide Chapel having 3 Events at Once

SouthSide Chapel will have three opportunities for anyone to participate:

Guest Vendors will have a booths providing unique gifts for early Christmas shopping!

There will be free give-away of coats, shoes, blankets and clothing (including children as well as adult sizes);

And a Bake Sale featuring goodies perfect for your Thanksgiving feast!

Everyone is welcome from 10am-4pm November 20. SouthSide Chapel is located in west Marion County close to Lake O’ Pines at 1949 Pops Landing Road, 3.5 miles east of Hwy. 259 off Hwy. 450 in Ore City.

Time to clean out and clean up! VENDORS REQUESTED for indoor table/chair or a big outdoor spot with your tables/chairs/truck/trailer. Either space just $10 or a 10% tithe on sales. Make crafts or sort out that garage or closet. Sell tools, décor, gifts, fashion, food, homemade items, furniture, antiques, garage sale items, sports gear, vehicles, your choice! Set-up will begin at 9am Saturday.

Electronics Disposal

Rotary Club of Jefferson is sponsoring an electronics recycling service from 9-1 on November 20 at First National Bank, downtown. 

Citizens Action Committee to Meet

The November meeting of the Jefferson Citizens Action Committee will meet at 5:30p.m. November 22, at the Jefferson Transportation and Visitors Center.

Bring thoughts, ideas, complaints, and options to resolve. We need to get some action going on some topics now that we have chatted for a few meetings and gotten some ideas. Now it’s time to get traction and action.

Christmas Parade

The Jefferson Lions Club and the Marion County Chamber of Commerce are now accepting applications for the 2021 Jefferson Christmas Parade. Entry forms and the $10 entry fee should be turned into the Chamber prior to November 25. For more information, contact the Chamber at 903-665-2672. The parade will go from Walnut to Austin to Market to Henderson and end at Lion’s Club Park for the lighting of the Enchanted Forest.

Holiday Wreath Decorating Class

Texas Tech Jefferson and The Flower Market will hold a Community Appreciation class on “Holiday Wreath Decorating With the Pros” from noon to 1 p.m. November 30 at the Jeffersonian Exhibit Hall, 120 E. Austin Street. There will be Pro tips, detailed decorative instructions, themed decorative examples, step-by-step bow making, and complimentary sandwiches and drinks. Remembering “The LOVE Of CHRIST”

Women at the Well of Encouragement (WATWOE) will host its Annual Christmas Gala and Toy Give-A-Way December 18, 2021 starting 6:00 p.m. at Jefferson Visitor/Tourism Building. The local faith-based ministry is seeking new toy donations that will enable children to enjoy indoor and outdoor activities.

Tickets to attend the Christmas Gala are $10.00 and may be purchased at Graham Financial Services. Children under 12 may attend free with an adult. The attire is dressy to semi-formal and everyone is welcome.
