It is with great pleasure to announce that the Vacation Watch/Security Check program that the Jefferson Police Department provides was a great success for 2021.
Being one of the proactive approaches the department participates in aimed at reducing crime through an increase in visibility and proactive patrolling.
The department has made it a goal this past year to actively check high targeted businesses often. This includes Banks, ATM locations, Fuel stations, Storage facilities and other known high targeted areas.
High targeted locations are known locations that have been the victims of a criminal offense in Jefferson or the surrounding areas.
In 2019, 1,775 locations were documented as being checked, 2020, 3,993 locations were documented as being checked.
In 2021, 15,158 locations were documented as being checked by officers on patrol.
Given the success of this program, we will continue to offer this service to the Citizens of Jefferson.
