MCGOP Hosts Candidates

The Marion County Republican Party will host  State Representative Jay Dean and Nathaniel Moran – Candidate for US Congress District 1, at 5:30 p.m. January 14 at the Collins Academy, 500 E. Broadway.

There will be light hors d’oeuvres and drinks. The dress is casual.

The public is invited to attend.

Note: Next week’s paper will include interviews with GOP Governor Candidate Don Huffines and Congresional candidate Nathan Moran.

Spaghetti
Supper

Christ Episcopal Church will hold their annual Spaghetti Supper from 5-7p Monday at the church. 

This year the annual event will help raise funds for Blessings of Grace Food Pantry.

Costs are: $10 for Adults, $5 for Children and under. Take out orders are available.

The church is located at 703 South Main, on the West side of Lion’s Club Park.

Filing Opens

Filing for a place on the ballot for Jefferson ISD School Board and the City of Jefferson begins on Saturday and continues through February 13.

The City has one alderman spot available for each ward. Currently those spots are held by David Westbrook (Ward 1), James Parsons (Ward 2), and Ted Dickson (Ward 3). The Mayor’s position, currently held by Rob Baker, is also up for grabs this year.

The last day to register to vote in the March 1 Primary for State Offices is January 31. The last day to register to vote for the May elections is April 6. One can register to vote, or update information, at the Marion County Tax Office.

The election takes place on Saturday May 7, and is being run by the County Elections Officer, Karen Jones.

Haywood House Changes Hours

Starting Monday, the Haywood House Restaurant & Cocktail Bar will be closed for lunch on Monday and Tuesday’s moving forward. They will still be open for dinner starting at 5p.m. until 10:30p.m.
