The Opera House Theatre Players will meet at 1:45 pm on Saturday, March 5, with persons interested in volunteering for the upcoming Pioneer Days celebration that will be held on Labor Weekend, Sept. 3,4, and 5. The event was first staged last year with success in bringing back Jefferson’s earliest days as the “western most East Texas river port in Texas” when it was settled in the 1840s.
A feature of the event will again be the famous Sons of the Pioneers group that will perform in the Visitor Center on the afternoon of September 5. A waiting list is already being made to those wishing to be notified when the tickets will go on sale.
Anyone that wishes to volunteer their time and talents to the event should meet with the theatre reps on Saturday if possible. There will be monthly meetings or more if needed to line up all the necessary events for the 3-day event that will also have a western parade, a street dance, a barbeque, an historical shoot-out, and other entertainment.
