Clayborne “CS” Smith was born December 13, 1946, to Mr. and Mrs. Claudie Smith. At an early age he gave his life to Christ. He was educated at Central High School. CS was employed at Blackburn Syrup until retiring after more than 25 years of service. Clayborne joined union with Betty J. Smith June 11, 1997. CS was a faithful member of Pine Grove Baptist church where he also served as a deacon. He was known for his love for family, larger than life laugh, kindness for friends, and unwavering support for the Dallas Cowboys as one of their #1 fans.
Clayborne was preceded in death by his parents Claudie Smith and Louise Smith, son Herman DeWayne Smith, son Carlos Dunn, daughter Lisa Miles, niece ReKindrea “Angel” Smith.
He leaves to cherish his memories: wife of 25 years Betty J. Smith, children Clayborne Smith Jr, Terri (Louis) Rockwell, Vickey Smith, James Smith, Alanka Deshay, Lakeisa Smith; brothers Robert (Marilyn) Smith, Jerry (Rhonda) Smith, sisters Elmer Walker, Claudia Rose, Sharon (Otis) Pete, Ellen (Samuel) Williams, 17 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. Church-mom B.J. Montgomery and god-daughters Tammy Luster and Gloria Irving.
Services for Claybrone “CS” Smith, 75, of Jefferson, are 12 noon Saturday, Aug. 13, 2022, at the Jefferson Junior High School Auditorium and burial will follow afterwards at Cypress Chapel Cemetery in Jefferson, Texas. There will be a family hour from 6-7pm Friday, Aug/ 12, 2022 at Lewis & Walker Funeral Home.
