Marion County JP Lena Pope had her vehicle fired upon while attending to official duties Friday evening.
According to reports, Pope responded to a request for a death pronouncement and upon arrival realized she was not at the correct address. She began turning her vehicle around when someone came out of the home and opened fire on her vehicle. She quickly drove away from the location and notified the Sheriff’s office.
Pope was not injured during the incident.
Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call from Pope about the situation and after assessing the situation, one suspect is currently in custody.
