Two suspects have been arrested following a Friday evening shooting aimed at Marion County Justice of the Peace Lena Pope. Pope was not physically injured in the incident.
According to a press release from Marion County Sheriff David Capps, Pope was in route to Smith Bockmon Rd. at approximately 7 p.m. to conduct an inquest when her vehicle was fired upon by Joseph Faulk.
Pope was in a rural part of Marion County and mistakenly drove down the wrong driveway. As Pope was headed out the driveway, Faulk fired upon her vehicle shattering the driver’s side back window and the rear window. Pope was able to make it out of the drive without any injuries. She contacted the Marion County Sheriff’s Office to ask for assistance. Upon further inspection of her vehicle, Judge Pope located six more bullet holes.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office along with several Texas Game wardens, JISD Officer D.J. Sherill, JPD, and Mims EMS responded to the call. Officers located Faulk at the residence.
An investigation into the incident was conducted leading to the arrest of Faulk. Faulk is being held in the Marion County Jail awaiting to be arraigned by Marion County Judge Leward LaFleur on Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon and Deadly Conduct, both of which are 3rd degree felonies.
Leska Pendly was also located at the residence and was arrested for an outstanding warrant.
