Football, Food Trucks and Cornhole is coming to Jefferson on September 24 after council approved the special event application during Tuesday night’s brief meeting.

The Krewe of Hebe sponsored event will start at 10 a.m. and go until 10 p.m.in the private parking lot near Auntie Skinner’s, commonly known as the “Beer Garden”. The alleyways in the block will be closed to vehicle traffic.

Two big-screen televisions and two projectors will be setup showing various football games. There will be a tented area with tables and chairs. The parking lot is planned to be surrounded by area food trucks offering a variety of food choices. Cornhole boards will also be setup for play.

Council also approved the Marion County Chamber of Commerce’s annual Taste of Jefferson event set for October 16.

Council approved two add-ons to the home of Bill Latham at 111 S. Friou. The additions will add two bathrooms as well as a den and porch to the property according to the application.

Council held a brief closed session to consult with their attorney, Mike Martin, but no action was taken following the session.

Council finished out the evening with returning to their monthly workshop on Ordinances and the Employee Handbook. Discussion was held concerning which they wished to address first. Ultimately Council will be completing the work on the Employee Handbook and then move onto ordinance revisions.

Council will meet again at 5:30 p.m. September 20.
