Junior high volleyball picks up wins 

Three of the four Jefferson Junior High Volleyball teams won their matches against Carlisle on Monday. 

The 7B team split the night winning one set 25-14 before losing the next set  11-13.

The 8B team won in two sets, 25-14, 12-9

The 7A team won in sets— losing the first one 21-25— before bouncing back to win 25-15 and 15-12.

The 8A won in two, 25-23, 25-17.

Chloe Wood served for 20 points for 8A and Janaa Goynes served for 12 points.

Youth football rolling

All three Marion County Youth Football teams won their season openers at home against Elysian Fields on Saturday. 

The 3/4th grade Dawgs won 13-7.

The 5/6th grade Dawgs won 27-7.

And the Jefferson flag squad dominated  27- 0.

Bass Club does well at Bob Sandlin 

The Jefferson Bass Club tournament on Lake Bob Sandlin is in the books. 

There were 15 members, one guest and two youth that fished. 

Third place went to Michael Harp, 8 lb., 3oz

Second place went Andrew Harp, 10 lb., 1oz. 

First Place and Big Bass honors went to Chaelton Cook, 12 lb.,1 oz. 

The October tournament will be on Lake Wright Patman. 

Booster Club has raffle tickets

The Bulldog Booster Club is selling raffle tickets at all varsity home football games. 

Tickets are $2 each and there are two prizes:

-A varsity signed helmet

-A gift basket full of donated items.

If you or a business would like to donate to our gift baskets, please contact a board member. Please include your business card with your donation. You can chose the date you would like to donate or you can donate to each.

Three remaining home games are:

-Sept. 15, Salute to Service.

-Oct. 21,  Pink Out & Youth Night. 

-Nov. 4, Senior Night.

Sub Varsity football teams win big

All three younger JISD football squads came up with wins against DeKalb last week on the road.  

The 7th Grade Dawgs won 26-14.

The 8th Grade team won 39-6.

And the Junior Varsity squad topped the Bears 30-24.

The JV team stayed in the winning column on Wednesday topping Hughes Springs 20-14. The 7th grade team lost to the Mustangs 14-22.
