According to a press release from JPD Chief Florentino Perez, a house fire at 107 Alford Street was the result of arson.
“While on scene, officers performing a preliminary investigation determined that the residence was intentionally set on fire by Letissue Mapps.
“Mapps was immediately taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail and booked-in for Arson of a Habitation F-1 and Criminal Trespass MB. Efforts to save the residence proved unsuccessful and it burned completely to the ground. The house was unoccupied and no one was injured due to the fire.
“The Jefferson Police Department thanks the Marion County Deputy that assisted and the great efforts of the Jefferson Voluntary Fire Department in the attempt to save the residence. “
