Jefferson Lady Bulldog Softball and Bulldog Baseball open district play on February 28 and March 7 and respectively. 

Baseball

Bulldog baseball will have a new skipper this year as Joe Kessell will take over at the helm. Kessell and the Bulldogs are scheduled to play a 26-game slate, 12 of those being in 3A District 16 play. But only seven are at home this season.

The Bulldogs open district play on March 7 at home against Elysian Fields. Pre-district games have shown a split on the varsity Dawgs, with them ending with a tie against the New Boston Lions on February 9, a 10-11 loss to Queen City last Thursday, and loss to Harleton Wildcats 0-6 on Tuesday.

They will play in the Linden-Kildare Tournament on Friday and Saturday, adn wil face off against Hooks on Monday.

This year will feature a home and home district schedule. All district games are set for a 7 p.m. first pitch. They will play in a Tuesday/Friday district format this season except for Thursday, April 6 when the Bulldogs host Waskom.

The season wraps up with a visit to the Tigers of Troup on April 24. The final time to catch the Bulldogs at home will be April 21 as they will play host to the Tatum Eagles for Senior Night.  

Softball

They Lady Bulldogs are led by Paige Purifoy, head softball coach and is assisted by Falon Young.

Lady Bulldog softball will open 3A District 16 play on February 28 as they will host the Tatum Eagles at 4:30 p.m. They will also play a home and home district schedule hosting six games this season.

The Lady Bulldogs have a couple theme nights scheduled throughout this season. Friday, March 10 will be “Teacher Night” against Elysian Fields. Then on Thursday, April 6 it will be “Kids Night” when they Lady Bulldogs take on Waskom.

They will cap off their season at home when they host the Arp Tigers. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. It will be senior night as the Lady Bulldogs will recognize their seniors.

Last weekend the Lady Dawgs went 5-0 at the Coach Malone Classic Tournament.
