Cruise Night

Cruise on in on the first Saturday of the month in Historic Jefferson to check out the local muscle cars, street rods and all manner of cars. Open to all makes and models. No entry fee. 50/50 drawing. Sponsored by Big Cypress Corvette Club. Held on the 100 block of E Austin Street in front of the Jefferson General Store.

 VFW Fish Fry

The Jefferson chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars will host their monthly First Saturday Fish Fry this weekend.  Set for 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Saturday, March 4, lunch will include fried fish, fries, coleslaw, beans and a drink— all for a $10 donation. Dessert will be available for $1.  Lunch can be enjoyed dine-in or carryout from the Post at 1399 US-59, Jefferson.  Are donations are tax deductible and proceeds will benefit the Post. 

Mims Fish Fry

The Fish fry to benefit the Mims VFD March 4 at the Mims Community Center has been postponed until March 11 4 to 7pm  12728 FM729 Avinger.

WSET & TxTech

Texas Tech University Professional education office in Jefferson is hosting a workshop to earn your level 2  Wine, Spirits Educational Trust award (WS.E.T.) on March 4 and 5th.

Ham Radio

The NE Texas Amateur Radio Group will conduct an Introduction To Amateur Radio and General Upgrade Classes, beginning at 6:30p March 14, at the Atlanta, Texas, Public Library. Both classes will provide everything required for your License. Please use the East door. These Classes are free. The study guide and all materials are $10 per student. Wildflowers & Wine Saturday, April 29, in Avinger, Texas.  10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Wine-tasting opens 11 a.m., finest Texas wineries, $10 entry provides glass, wine bag. Canine beauty pageant, 10:30 a.m. Community parade, 4 p.m.  Kids’ fishing hole. Prize raffle. Art & Photography Show. Music by 92.3 FM, The Depot. Event T-shirts for purchase in April. Rummage Sale

The Marion County Chamber of Commerce has opened up registration for their Annual Spring City Wide Rummage Sale, March 30-April 1. To be included on the printed map, registration forms, along with $20, needs to be submitted to the Chamber by March 27. Paid Pre-K

Jefferson Primary is now enrolling pre-k students for the tuition based program, for the 2023-24 school year. The program is for students, 3 and 4 years of age by September 1. Scholarship

Lone Star Ag Credit is currently accepting scholarship applications from graduating high school seniors in the class of 2023. Six seniors will receive a $2,500 scholarship, and if they are a 4H/FFA member, their club will receive $500. Applications must be postmarked by March 17. The packet is available at https://lonestaragcredit.com/scholarship-application-2023. Lone Star Ag Credit provides financing for rural land, country homes, agribusiness, livestock, agricultural equipment and operating expenses.  For more information, contact Lydia Laske at 800-530-1252.
