Sunday’s early morning storms contributed to an accident in Marhsall that has taken out Fidelity Communications internet service in Jefferson, Marshall, and Hallsville.

According to tech support at Fidelity, Marshall PD has a portion of US 59 barricaded off so their crews cannot access the area to begin repairs.

The agent said Fidelity was setting an estimate of Monday morning for restoration of services unless things changed soon.

The Jimplecute spoke with Fidelity technical support at approximately 11:45 Sunday morning. We’ll update as more information is received

UPDATE: Marshall Cinema posted about 1130a that Travis Street at US59 is barricaded and power company is working on replacing a crushed pole.
UPDATE: Sunday 10p. 92.3 FM The Depot posted: “Here’s the deal for now; vehicle hit a pole at Travis & US-59 last night. Someone, in an effort to clear the wreckage, decided to simply cut the wires going to the pole. According to a very nice guy at Fidelity, 40 fiber optic cables were cut and need to be spliced. The splicers are “en route” and “service should be restored by late this evening or early tomorrow morning.” According to Fidelity earlier today about 5,000 to 7,500 customers are affected. Major AT&T wires are reportedly involved as well.

UPDATE: Monday 7:30a Internet services were restored during the night
