The Marion County Resource Coalition is hosting their first major event on Staturday and it’s geared at helping Marion County residents find the health care resources available to them in the area.

The event is a partnership with Jefferson Adopt-A-Cop program and a grant from the Texas Department of State Health Services to identify health needs and the resources to address those needs.

The event will start at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Jefferson Community Center, 501 N Haywood Street.

In years past, the event has been outdoors, but this year the majority of the activities will be inside.

Information available will include vision screenings, blood pressure checks, glucose tests, medication questions, car seat safety, vaccinations, water safety, BMI checks, cholesterol screenings, and other health and safety resources available. The Jefferson Police Department other other first responders will be on hand to introduce themselves. UT Tyler School of Medicine has also arranged for a mobile mamogram testing bus to be on hand.

Food, free fingerprinting, and activities for children will also be available.

The coalition has partnered with over 15 other organizations to make this event a success and help county residents obtain more information on their health and what resources are available to them.

The event is free.
