The Varsity Lady Dawgs are taking major digs at their opponents so far this season as they head into the Redwater Tournament this weekend with a 7-5 overall record.
Last week’s tournament play in Big Sandy on August 10, didn’t start off the way the Dawgs wanted, with losses to Quitman 1-2, and East Texas Homeschool Sports, 1-2. But they bounced back against Union Grove with a 2-0 win. The one-day break in the tournament, despite a 3-0 loss to Atlanta on the off day, energized the Lady Dawgs to defeat Winona 2-0, and Waskom 2-0. They ended the tournament with a first place position in the silver bracket.
The Bulldogs regular rival Atlanta Rabbits, handed them a 3-0 loss on August 12. The Rabbits outpaced the Bulldogs with more assists and aces while the Dawgs in digs (24-20), and, unfortunately, errors (49-28).
The ladies faced off against annual rival Daingerfield on August 15, handily defeating them in all three sets (25-18, 25-22, 25-19).
Tournament play resumed Thursday with losses to both Avery and Redwater. Play continued today and the Jimplecute will post results as they are provided.
This coming Tuesday’s play pits the Lady Dawgs against Marshall and Henderson in Marshall. They will then play in the Hooks Tournament on Thursday and Saturday, August 24 and 26.
Home play resumes Friday as the Bulldogs face Paul Pewitt at home. Start time is set for 4:30p
