Jefferson Basketball Season has started and the teams are starting off strong

The Jefferson Lady Bulldogs have started off strong with a 5-3 record so far this season.

vs Hooks, L 32-29

Despite getting out to a 21-15 lead at halftime, the Lady Dawgs couldn’t hold on for the victory on November 7. 

Kristen Thomas led the Dawgs in scoring with 13 points. Jordyn Davison (6 ponts), Taurria Hood (5 points), Keyasia Black (2 points), Akilah Brasher (2 points), and Keinysa Wallace had 1 point. Wallace led the team with six rebounds. Steals were key as the Black had 5 of the 13.

@ Daingerfield, W68-30

Hood and Thomas teamed up to lead the Dawgs past Daingerfield on November 10.

They controlled the game from the opening tip, never giving up the advantage. At one point they had a 42-point lead.

Hood led scoring with 16 points, and Thomas (15 points), Black (11 points), Davidson (11 points) Wallace (6 points), Ava Phillips (3 points), Amirie Prior (2 points), Brasher (2 points) and Alaysia Durden (2 points).

Overall the Dawgs had 45 rebounds with Thomas collecting 11.

@Queen City, L61-55

Lady Dawgs mounted a comeback after falling behind by 19 points, but were unable to completely recover, losing to Queen City 61-55 on November 14.

Thomas had 17 points and 12 rebounds. Davidson had 11 points, Hood with 11 points, Wallace had 7 points, Prior had 5 points, and Black had 4 points.

@ Harmony, W 58-34

Hood scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Dawgs past Harmony 58-34 on November 16.

The game started with an 11 point run for the Dawgs, eventually reaching a 29 point spread.

Hood had 10 of the 39 rebounds. Thomas led in scoring with 15 points, Destiny Kelly had 11 points, Wallace had 5 points, Black had 4 points, Prior with 3 points, Davidson with 2 points and Phillips with 2 points.

vs Avinger, W63-40

Double-Double from Thomas carried the Dawgs past Avinger 63-40 on November 16.

It was a back and forth affair with 13 lead changes, with the Dawgs coming from behind to take and keep the lead.

Hood had 15 points, Black with 10 points, Davidson 9 points, Kelly 5 points, Phillips 4 points and Prior 4 points.

@ Hawkins, W 48-41

Hood scored 13 points and Thomas had 12 as the Dawgs kept a close game against Hawkins on November 17, ultimately winning 48-41. 

Black had 8 points, Davidson 5 points, Wallace 4 points, Phillips, Kelly and Prior each had 2 points.

@ New Diana, W62-15

The Dawgs doubled down again against New Diana on November 18, handily defeating them 62-15.

Thomas led the way with 21 points and 13 rebounds.

Hood had 17 points, Kelly ith 10, Black at 5, Wallace and Prior each with 4 points, and Davidson with 1 point.

vs Hawkins, L40-53

Hawkins recovered from their earlier loss to Jefferson last Saturday, handing the Dawgs their 3rd loss of the season, 53-40.

The Lady Dawgs continue this week  against Big Sandy on the 21st and Paul Pewitt on the 28th.
