MLK Banquet focuses on importance of teaching, equity

The Marion County Diversified Civic and Social Concerns Organization traded icy roads for cold temps as they held their rescheduled Martin Luther King Jr Banquet last Sunday evening.

Over 200 people attended the annual event and dinner which is a fundraiser for the multiple scholarships they award to area seniors.

Dr. Cahndice Matthews was the keynote speaker and talked about the importance of a diversified and equitable education.

Membership in the organization is $30 per year and helps fund this and other events and scholarships. For  more information, contact Mary Spearmon at 903-738-3028.
