Tatum Eagles backers were pleased Saturday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Jefferson Bulldogs, 56-50 in a league bout.

With the victory, Tatum upgrades its record to 15-7 on the campaign.

Next up, the Bulldogs play the Elysian Fields Yellowjackets in a 3A Region II District 16 bout, on Wednesday, January 24. Jefferson will attempt to upgrade on its 18-5 season record. The Yellowjackets come into the bout with a 10-7 record after their 42-37 league win over West Rusk. The game was originally scheduled for Tuesday, but rain and hazardous road conditions postponed it until Wednesday.
