During the early Tuesday morning hours, Jefferson police responded to a call on the east side of the City, which ended with a son apparently murdering his mother.
According to a press release from JPD Chief Florentino Perez, JPD officers, and Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a 3 a.m., 9-1-1 call in the 400 block of E. Bonham Street.
Upon arrival they found Carla Rogers, 67, deceased, and her son, Dillon Rogers, 32, located at the scene.
Dillon is the primary suspect in Carla’s death. According to reports, he called 9-1-1 and admitted to hurting his mother.
The exact cause of death was not determined, but Carla had lacerations on her body. A full autopsy still has to be performed to determine exact cause of death.
Dillon was arrested and booked into the Marion County Jail on the charge of Murder, Felony 1.
The Jefferson Police Department is being assisted by the Texas DPS Ranger Division regarding this investigation. No further details regarding this investigation will be released at this time.
