There’s no shortage of things to do this weekend in Marion County, even though Spring Break is still over a week away.

The weekend starts with an Open House and Celebration of 50 years of service at First National Bank for Carol Walker and Pam McGreggor. The event is from 2-4p Friday at the bank.

If you’re looking for options and what resources are available to help you get healthcare in Marion County, then come out to the Mims VFD from 10a-1p. They will have free health checks and lots of information.

If you’re into boxing, or just curious, head over to the Marion County Community Center, 501 Haywood Street, for an afternoon of sparring sponsored by MoJo Boxing and Dement Bros Boxing Club of Shreveport. A $1 donation is requested to watch and/or spar. Matchups will run from 1-4p Saturday and a mouthpiece and headgear are required to participate. Beje Burgers will also be on hand with plates for $8.

Judge LaFleur is again hosting Texas Independence Day celebrations on the Courthouse grounds starting at 3p Saturday. Be sure and secure your pets before you go though as the replica Gonzales Cannon will be fired. A taco truck is also scheduled to be on hand.

On the arts side, Opera House Theatre Players is holding auditions for their new play “The Women” from 2-3p Saturday at Christ Episcopal Church.

It’s also the last full weekend before Daylight Savings Time begins when we all Spring Forward on March 10.
