Our View: Good Governance Needs Your Vote

Elections are key to our government and way of life.

But lately, elections are ugly. They’re doing more to divide people than brining them together.

A common phrase these days is: “I don’t like either candidate, so I just won’t vote.”

Voter turnout is already at an historic low of less than 30% nationwide. Marion County does a little better as we average 35-40%. But, that’s still pretty poor.

American’s are happy to complain about actions governments take – from Federal all the way down to Local. But, when you don’t vote; don’t bother to give your input into who’s in charge, we all “get what we voted for.”

City Elections are going on NOW. Either at the Elections Building on N. Alley, or at the Tax Office on Lafayette Street.

Don’t “not vote.” Even if you don’t like either candidate, let your voice be heard.
