According to a press release received on Monday, both the Jefferson and Marshall Cabinetworks manufacturing plants will be closing as of September 13, 2024, affecting approximately 350 employees.
“This strategic decision will optimize the company’s multi-family manufacturing network, leveraging capacity at more modernized and efficient manufacturing plants within its remaining 16-facility network. It will also proactively address changing customer needs, advance operational efficiencies across the network, and address the forecasted slowdown of multi-family starts and completions,” the press release stated.
Employees were notified today of the planned closure. Cabinetworks said they are offering employees assistance including severance packages and outplacement support.
“We know these closures will have a significant impact on our team in Marshall and Jefferson,” CEO Jeff Jackson. “Taking care of our team members and assisting them through the transition is our top priority. We will work closely with state and local resources to provide assistance to those who are impacted. We thank our employees for their dedicated service to Cabinetworks and our customers.”
Rumors of a possible closure surfaced earlier this year, but were denied by both local plant officials and Cabinetworks officials via email.
