East Texas Performing Arts celebrates with an After Hours ribbon-cutting

Please join us in celebrating East Texas Performing Arts with an After Hours ribbon-cutting!

“This evening we wish to introduce East Texas Performing Arts and our upcoming events for 2024.

Texas in Paris is a play that will be on the Memorial City Hall stage Friday and Saturday, August 9 & 10, at 7:30, and Sunday, August 11, at 2:00. This moving true story has its roots in East Texas. Osceola Mays was born and reared in Waskom. In 1989, she and John Burris, a South Texas native cowboy singer, were hired to perform in Paris, France. The respectful, gentle way they handled racial differences between them shows us that all people are basically the same. Neither race nor nationality are reasons for hate, fear, or separation. The female lead, Rita Phillips, owns the Bread of Heaven Restaurant, 211 Wellington St. She is a sought-after gospel singer and speaker in churches around the region. David McElheny, from Jefferson, has performed in many East Texas Performing Arts plays as well as for other theater companies in East Texas. He also appeared in several regional movies.

October 3 through 5, the Texas Sounds International CMA Festival returns to Memorial City Hall with three evenings of solid entertainment. Country Music is said to be Texas’ most influential worldwide export. Renowned performers from around the world come to Marshall to perform music that sounds like East Texas. Thirty-six nations have sent their top performers to participate since we began in 2013. This is a unique event and very special. There is nothing like it in the world.”
