Team takes aim, learns from archery

The three highest-scoring archers from Jefferson Junior High gave a brief presentation to the school board on January 14. 

Cameron Young, a 7th grader, is the 1st place shooter, Kera Long, an 8th grader is the 2nd place shooter, and Jordyn Carpenter, also an 8th grader, is the 3rd place shooter for the district.

During their presentation, the students discussed various techniques, showcased the equipment used, and highlighted how their experience connects to valuable life lessons and skills. 

The three students will join their teammates at the Wildcat Warm-Up Tournament in Harrelton, Texas, on Saturday, January 18. The team also plans to participate in tournaments at Elysian fields and Queen City, with a virtual state qualifying round set to be held in Jefferson. 

They are led by Paul Cothren, JISD Outdoor Education Teacher.
