Paul Webb was sworn in as County Commissioner for Precinct 3 on January 2nd. He was elected in the March 5, 2024, Primary Election.

Webb has lived in and around Marion County for much of his life. He attended North Caddo High School in Vivian, La., before moving to Shreveport. Webb moved back to Marion County in 2002 with his wife and two daughters.

A machinist by trade, Webb owns a machine shop in Louisiana. This is his first time holding public office.

“I just wanted to try and make a change,” Webb said. “You know, you can gripe about this and gripe about that, but if you’re not willing to do something about it, well, I just decided I would throw my hat in.”

One of Webb’s top priorities as commissioner is improving county road conditions. Webb said during his campaign, voters told him that was their “number one concern.”

Webb is also focused on increasing community engagement and voter participation in Marion County. He noted that turnout for the primary election was dismally low, with only about 25 percent of eligible voters casting ballots.

“In the primary election, I think we had a twenty-something percent turnout, I mean that’s terrible,” Webb said. “I’d like to see more people vote for sure. That’s the only thing we have, is our vote.”

Webb believes staying in touch with his voters and listening to their concerns will be key to achieving his goals. He emphasizes the importance of talking to different community groups to stay updated on perspectives and expectations.

Webb said he is eager to collaborate with fellow commissioners. He’s already received a warm welcome from his colleagues, who have offered their assistance as he transitions into the role.

“I told all of them, ‘well, I’m sure I’ll be talking to you soon,’” Webb said.  “There’s a lot to learn.”
