New businesses give more tasty options

Two new food related businesses opened in Jefferson recently and both are dedicated to bringing more options and food choices for residents.

A speciality grocery store has returned to as the Foodie Tasting Room opened their doors last week on Lafayette Street in the space once operated by Leader Dry Goods Co.

Owners Amerlia Rabalais and Shelby Zeuch relocated their shop from Marshall to Jefferson and are already seeing success.

The shop offers a variety of foods including jams, jellies, salsas, infused olive oils, healthy pasta, fresh teas and essential oils are among their offerings.

The store will be open Monday through Sunday from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Will and Lucy Thomas are the owners of Red Dirt BBQ. With roots in Jefferson, Will has always had a great love for family, community and food. Will spent 22 years serving in the United States Army and 13 years serving with the Department of Defense. 

Lucy is Texas-born and an entrepreneur at heart. She began her career in sales by working in her family’s snow cone stand at the age of nine. 

Together, they share a love for cooking and have been serving up great meals for their five children and friends over the past three decades. Red Dirt BBQ is truly a family business.

Their menu serves both quality and tasty barbecue smoked onsite in a custom-built smoker. They specialize brisket, pulled pork, ribs sausage and hot links.
