Earth Week lends well to spring cleaning

Jefferson and Marion County are continuing to celebrate Earth Week by offering free dump visits for City and County residents.

All of the County dumpsites will be open regular hours, with the regular restrictions, but dump tickets are not required.

The County will not be accepting brush, tires, shingles, paint products, batteries, fiberglass boats or oil. Oil will only be accepted at the Pct. 2 dumpsite.

The City will have dumpsters located next to the Jefferson Police Department on N. Alley Street, as well as at the Jefferson Community Center on Haywood Street. The City locations are only available tomorrow, April 22. City employees will be on hand to help unload vehicles.

The Jefferson Rotary Club will be collecting unwanted electronics from 9 a.m.-noon at the First National Bank parking lot on Polk Street.
