Individuals and groups are invited to help place American flags at Marion County veterans’ gravesites on Saturday, May 27, prior to Memorial Day. Flags will be left in place through Flag Day on June 10, and then collected and stored.
Flags and organization are provided through collaborative efforts of the Martha McGraw Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution,
the VFW Post 10373 and Auxiliary, the American Legion of Jefferson.
Flag placement for Oakwood Cemetery, Mt. Sinai Cemetery and Oakwood Memorial Park in Jefferson will begin at 10 am on Saturday, May 27, at the front gate of Oakwood Cemetery.
Those wishing to organize flag placements for veterans’ gravesites in rural Marion County cemeteries may call Paulette Cooper (903) 665-8379 or Debbie Brown (817) 727-1770 to reserve a specific number of flags for a specific cemetery. Reserved flags then can be picked up at the VFW Building in Jefferson on May 27, at 9 a.m.
