At the Jefferson Carnegie Library, Volunteers Make It Happen!

Stacy Mills/ Contributing Writer

Jefferson is alive and well with weekly activities, events, and projects whose successes rely on volunteers. Full-time employees, non-employeed, and retirees work together to ensure whatever the event may be, it is executed in the most efficient and productive way to ensure a positive outcome.  If you want to be involved, there are endless opportunities in Jefferson and Marion County to volunteer.

The Friends Board of the Jefferson Carnegie Library and the Friends members of the library work tirelessly throughout the year to create, plan, and execute successful fundraising events that support both the library and our community.  During this 2022-2023 year, they hosted a pot-luck membership drive dinner, author event, Bingo Night, Annual Golf Tournament and most recently, the 4th of July Cake and Pie Auction.  All these events require long hours of pre-planning, set-up and take-down, advertising, etc. to ensure they are successful.  Volunteers do their work not for the recognition but for the service they can give doing something they enjoy that benefits the community. Pats on the back are not expected, but certainly are appreciated.

To the Friends Board and Friends members of the library, a huge thank you for your ongoing teamwork, dedication, gift of time and money, and active participation that helps to keep our historic library doors open. You are the workhorse of the organization and your efforts do not go unnoticed.

The new 2023-2024 year will kick-off on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at 6:00pm with a pot-luck dinner and short business meeting. Enjoy a delicious meal and hear about the library renovations and upcoming scheduled events. It will also be a great opportunity to thank our volunteers for a job well done. See you there!
