Members of the JISD Bulldog Band attended the Steven Moss Leadership Academy last week.
Staff Reports
Several members of The Jefferson Bulldog Band attended the Steven Moss Leadership Academy earlier this week at Queen City HS. Leadership skills and other topics were discussed at a fast pace to keep students involved and engaged. These students will be using techniques and tips to help make the JHS better and more functional as a team.
Several improvements at the high school campus this summer have been directed at the band. The fencing around the old tennis courts has been removed, and the courts converted into a practice field for the band with a riser installed for the drum major. A new sidewalk from the band hall to the courts has also been poured. The band has used the courts for several years as a practice field.
A Full Band Summer Camp starts on Monday and goes through August 11 at the high school.
The band has five contests lined up in October this year and hope to use the skills learned at the academy to improve their performances and working as a team.
The band performs at every football game.
