WIC
The Jefferson WIC office will be closed Thursday and Friday, Aug 3-4. They will reopen at 8:30a Monday.
Bass Tourney
The Lake-O-the Pines night tournament will be out of Alley Creek from 7p-7a with a 2a weigh-in. August 4-5-6-7. Friday tournament chairman Gary Ansley, Saturday is David Sorrells. If you plan on fishing Sunday get in touch with Gary or Lynn. Ya`ll be safe and good luck.
Cleanup
The Annual Caddo Lake Cleanup begins at 8a August 5 at Johnson’s Ranch. Load up your boat with some trash from the lake and bring it to 2 dumpsters at Johnson’s Ranch. Every person that brings trash will be given a raffle ticket for food and entry into the raffle. We have many prizes that have been donated from virtually everyone in business in the community! Raffle drawing begins at 1:30 P.M. Tildon Gillum will be MCing and Zebb Rogers and Beaux Atkins will be performing from 3-6p.
School Zones
School Zone traffic lights are back up and running US59 as schools prepare to resume on Aug.14. Traffic tickets can still be written so be careful!
Meet the Teacher
JISD will hold “Meet the Teacher” night for the 2023-24 school year at the following times:
- • JHS, 9th graders 10-11:30a August 7
- • JHS 10-12th graders: 5-6:30p August 9
- • JJHS 5-6:30p August 9
- • JES: 5-6:30p August 10
- • JPS: 4:30-6p August 10
Students and parents can tour the campus, pick-up schedules and learn expectations. Mr. Brannon will be cooking hotdogs at the high school campus on August 9.

Football is only a few weeks away with the first scrimmage being August 11, and the first home game on August 24 (JV) and August 25 (V). The Jimplecute is again producing the Jefferson Athletic Booster Club Football Program so get your ad in early and support the JABC and Jefferson athletics. Bees
Honeybees are out in full swarm now that summer is almost here. If you have bees, don’t call an exterminator. Instead, call Stanford Brantley at 903-742-2765 and let him help remove and relocate them.
Farmers Market
- • The Mims Community Center 12728 Fm 729 north side of Lake O the Pines, is pausing their farmers market until the early fall season. For additional information, call 903-930-5104.
- • The Historic Jefferson Farmer’s Market is open every Saturday through the end of October in the First National Bank parking lot in downtown Jefferson.
- • Jefferson Academy Marketplace is now open across from the old Napa store. They have yellow squash, zucchini, cucumbers, carrots, beans, herbs, and blackberries. All grown at the Academy.
CPR
Jefferson Police Department has partnered with Christus EMS and the Jeffersonian Institute to offer CPR and Stop the Bleed training on September 9. Space is limited to the first 20 registrants.
