Robert West is pursuing John Ratcliffe’s spot on the November Ballot.
Mr. West who lives on 28 acres down a dirt road is seeking to replace John Ratcliffe on the November Ballot.
“It’s time someone who lives in rural East Texas, represents rural East Texans!” Said Scott Stebbins, Republican Chair of Marion County.
Congressman John Ratcliffe was confirmed as National Security Director on May 21, 2020 after his name was already on the ballot. By Texas law the County and Precinct Chairs of a candidate must choose a replacement.
After meeting with Mr. West earlier this month Cynthia Ridgeway, Republican Chair of Upshur County invited him to speak along with Col. Allen West at an event in Upshur County later this month.
Mr. West is attempting to meet with as many Precinct and County Chairs as possible before the August 8 meeting in Sulphur Springs. The delegates there will choose John Ratcliffe’s replacement on the November ballot.
Precinct Chairs are elected, unpaid positions; they usually run elections and grow the party. In cases where they must choose a replacement candidate, they suddenly become very important. In this scenario each Chair may represent as many 10,000 citizens in the final vote.
Mr. West is a strong advocate for the Second Amendment, term limits, pro-life and fiscally conservative. As a third generation Texas Veteran he’s traveled the world working on aircraft electronics for 30 years. “I look at complex problems, find the best way to fix them and head back to Texas.”, said Mr. West “People say they want term-limits? Prove it. I will not serve more than three terms and will seek no other office.” said Mr. West.
District four has a unique list of elected officials, State Representative Reggie Smith, State Senator Bob Hall and of course President Donald Trump are all political novices. Were Mr. West to be elected this district would have a collection of citizen-legislators, all of whom seem to be accomplishing more than professional politicians.
