The Opera House Theatre Players YNOT Awards event and annual meeting will take place on Saturday, August 10th at 7:15pm at Enoch’s Coffee and Wine House in Jefferson. The evening of awards is an annual event to recognize the actors and workers within the past season.
Also to be recognized are the selections for the Lucille M. Terry Cultural and Performing Arts Awards, the Dorothy Award for Excellence in attracting media attention, the Sherry’s Big Heart Award for the person, group, organization or business that continuously and generously gives their time, effort or assistance to the Players, and the Spotlight Award to the business that brings special attention to Jefferson during the year. All these awards are especially selected by members of the board of directors for the group. The nominees for the awards are:
BEST ACTOR- Joe Wardlaw, Patrick Fortune, Cheyenne Mobbs, Hugh Lewis
BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR- Joe Wardlaw, Gary Eigenmann, Patrick Fortune, Joe Todaro, Atticus Lewis
BEST ACTRESS- Lisa Daye, Nicole Blakely, Jane Maddox, Marcia Thomas
BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS- Jane Maddox, Marcia Thomas, Angela Martinez
BEST PRODUCTION OF THE SEASON- Voice On A Wire, Make Ready My Grave, It’s A Wonderful Life, Legends
According to theatre president Marcia Thomas, the name of Atticus Lewis was inadvertently left off of the Best Supporting Actor List and should be considered in voting. A reminder is being sent to voting members of the organization regarding this error. Ballots should be mailed in to the theatre post office box by the deadline of August 1st.
Also to be announced is the recipient of the most prestigious award given, the Terry Cultural and Performing Arts Award. The awardee will be featured in the 2024-2025 season brochure along with the planned season of shows and annual kick-off party usually scheduled for Labor Day Weekend. The awards evening will be complimentary for members and actors to further say “thanks” for all the good work and effort during our 35th year of operation.
