Lady Bulldogs came up as 3rd place Silver Bracket Champs in the Hawkins Tournament last week.
Thursday’s Pool Play brought three losses for the Dawgs: 0-2 vs Tyler Heat (17-25, 20-25), 2-1 vs Sabine (7-25, 25-16, 10-25), and 0-2 vs New Diana (12-25, 18-25).
The ladies played weel though with Brooklyn Clark earning 24 digs; Janaa Goynes with 3 kills, 1 ace, and 18 digs; Kourtlyn Dowell had 13 kills, 9 aces, 2 blocks, and 5 digs; Ava Phillips with 4 kills, 13 assts, 3 aces, and 13 digs; NahNah Wallace had 4 kills, and 10 digs; Christiana Justice with 2 kills, 5 assts, 2 aces, 1 block, and 8 digs; Brynlie Braddock had 11 digs; Rayleigh Gulk with 6 digs; and Maddie Cooner with 8 digs.
Saturday play brought the Lady Dawgs back with six wins to place 3rd overall with the Silver Bracket Championship.
They defeated Winona 2-0 (25-22, 25-10); split with Cumberland 1-2 (13-25, 25-20, 17-25); and topped Union grove 2-0 (25-15, 25-16), and Winona 2-0 (25-14, 25-17).
Saturday play was led by Janaa Goynes with 41 digs, 5 kills, and 3 assists; Rayleigh Gulk had 11 kills, and 9 assists; Ava Phillips with 38 digs, 35 assists, 16 kills, and 3 aces; Kourtlyn Dowell had 38 kills, 1 block, and 7 assists; Brynlie Braddock had 22 digs, 1 ace, and 1 assist; NahNah Wallace had 10 kills, and 4 aces; Christiana Justice with 30 assists, 7 kills, and 1 ace; and Brooklyn Clark: 14 digs.
This brings the Lady Dawgs an overall season of 1-7. They played Atlanta at home on Tuesday (see results online); will face New Boston on Friday; and Gilmer (at home) on Tuesday.
