Building permits  focus of meeting

City of Jefferson

V. Hugh Lewis II/Jefferson Jimplecute

The corner of Austin and Walnut will be getting a new look starting in January as the Calavera Company received approval  to modify Dr. Douglas’ former hospital building, and relocate the Red Bus.

The plan includes removing the portion of the building at the corner and adding an awning, and parking and patio space for the bus.

The City also discussed the Fire Station/City Hall needs assessment completed  by bvg4, and opted to set it aside and find another solution to the $3M price tag.

Finding a solution to a water seepage issue under the Jefferson General Store, which appears to be originating at the old City Hall was also discussed, with Council putting it as an action item on next month’s agenda.

Water has been getting into the building for the last two years and requires five pumps to keep it out. A study was done “several months ago” but has not been given to the City by SPI.

October’s regular meeting was also rescheduled to 6:30p October 7.
