Jefferson ISD notified parents about the end of the ACE after school program on Tuesday via a FaceBook post and “all-call” announcement.
“We are contacting you with new unfortunate information concerning our ACE program. Due to an unanticipated withholding of all federal funding for our ACE program and the loss of additional related Region 8 Education Service Center supports, we will be unable to provide the ACE program for the 2025-2026 school year,” the post stated.
“We understand the impacts and hardships this news may have on you and your families. We are providing you with this information as soon as we were made aware to ensure as much time as possible for you to plan for this change.”
“We are very disappointed in the withholding of these funds, the timing of this federal government decision, and lack of availability of this beneficial program for our students and families. JISD remains committed to providing the best opportunities for our students. Moving forward we will look for alternative funding sources and supports in hopes of providing a similar program in the future.”
The Jimplecute was later told by a program advocate, the Boys and Girls Club is investigating returning to Jefferson, but a director is needed, and the funding would need to be found.
The ACE program provided tutoring, after school learning programs and activities for students.
