Marion County Judge Leward LaFleur declared a Local Disaster due to the January 2026 Winter Storm #1 on Friday afternoon.

“Whereas, the County of Marion, beginning on January 23, 2026, is expected to suffer widespread and severe damage and injury to property and infrastructure (or there is imminent threat of same) resulting from severe winter storm,” the declaration reads.

The declaration went into effect immediately.
