A higher standard

My name is April  Taylor Johnson parent to two amazing Jefferson ISD Honor Roll Students and Community Leader also Founding Member of FRESH YOUTH MENTORING PROGRAM to  Sponsors two scholarships each year.

I’m here to address my concerns along with others about comments that one of our school members Kevin Godfrey’s recently posted on Facebook.

(Them same people telling you to vote because of racism are going to be silent about racism under Biden.  When nothing changes remember you are a Sambo)

With that being said, you are a school board member you need to be mindful of the things you post on social media.

You are in a position to affect the kids in this Community. If you want the freedom to say what you want, you need to give up your seat on this school board, you took an oath to have their best interest at heart. I guess you assumed that if you said Oh my African American friend said it that it would make it better, no it doesn’t  make it better. Stupidity is something that’s naturally inbred in a person and ignorance is something that learned, it was very ignorant to repost something and then pretent you didnt know the meaning of the word, clearly you knew what it meant you just didnt care, because once you learned  what the word meant you Continued to State that it was your friends words.  You are the school board member not your friend, I’m not sure what type of parents you are used to dealing with but we are very involved, caring, grade checking, no child left behind type of parents, not only our children but others. If you can’t represent the school district with a clean and pure heart you need to vacate your position. You give the I’s for we when you hold this position, it’s no longer just about you it’s about others as well. People like you will make parents move their children, you need to use this platform to uplift and empower. You shared the post so you take on your friends views. Something we learned early in life, be mindful of the company you keep and always remember it’s free to love, it’s free to be kind, it free to care and it’s free to be considerate of your neighbor.
