JISD Superintendent Asks Everyone to Wear ‘L-K Blue’ in Honor of Students

Email from Rob Barnwell, JISD Superintendent

As I’m sure you’ve all heard, L-K lost two students (sisters Adryanna and Shantey Hawkins) this past weekend in a vehicle accident. Their mom was driving them to school in order to catch a bus and go to the Harleton basketball tournament. A large truck collided with them. Their mom, Gwen, is still not conscious in a hospital.

This is so very sad. We know how it feels to lose a student, but I can’t even imagine the pain of losing a child.

Out of respect and support of the L-K community and this family, I am asking everyone to consider wearing “L-K blue” tomorrow in their honor. If you have any L-K shirts, hats, or other gear you’d like to wear, that’s fine too.

Perhaps we could photograph the groups of those who participate and put those pictures on our JISD Facebook page or the website….whatever y’all want to do out there on your campuses.

Please pray for those family members and friends who are certainly hurting badly at this time and ask God to comfort and guide them in this time of pain. So, again, let’s wear Tiger Blue tomorrow….and share this message with whomever you’d like in support of the Tiger family and community….. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Rob Barnwell
Jefferson ISD Superintendent
