I, wish to send a hearty “Thank You “ to the Jefferson Volunteers on this past Sunday’s County wide food distribution sponsored by the Under The Light Ministries Church of Jefferson, Texas.
We were blessed to receive an 18 wheeler trailer truck filled with boxed vegetables and dairy products that would be shared with over 900 families along with 280 gallons of milk. Our Volunteers worked in teams to distribute the food throughout all areas of Marion County. The distribution point was at the Elite Tax Service parking lot on Broadway Street.
Many residents were able to come to the drive through site in front of the old Napa Auto Parts store.
We are proud that our locals churches teamed with us in the distribution, True Light Ministries, J-Star Ministries, Mt Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church , Judea Baptist Church, New Zion Baptist Church, St Paul Methodist Church, Cypress Chapel Baptist Church, Springs of Grace Ministries, Berean Baptist Church and Mt Moriah Baptist Church.
So many residents came to offer their support making it easier to reach more residents further out in the Rural areas such as , Lake of the Pines, Pine Harbor, FM 2208 and other rural areas. Our local law enforcement came out to show their support ready to aide in loading boxes in the pickup trucks, Church vans, trailers and cars until the last box was gone. Our City Police Chief Florentino Perez was first to come seeing the magnitude of work called for Deputies and Game Wardens to assist who showed up excited to take part. There was a host of young people who enthusiastically worked doing a great job.
Scott Clark Volunteered to provide and operate the forklift to unload the truck.
Special thanks to my son and daughter, Rudy and Michelle Drew for being a huge part of this project.
This was truly a “Community at Large “
Working together for the good cause of helping those in need.
